The kids have been doing a pretty good job this morning writing updates on the
CaringBridge site on how things are going (what else can you do while you're waiting through a 5+ hour surgery, I guess!). Mom got off to surgery just fine this morning, and the family just got their first update from the OR. I'll include Brett's note here:
it's 10:30am. Mom is in the operating room. we just received our first update from the nurses. they just started the surgery and everything is going well.
she has received amazing care from the nurses and docs. last night she was the sole charge of the nurse. she appreciated the pampering and attention.
her back was very sore from having to sleep flat on her back all night. we are trying to track down a more comfortable bed for her during recovery tonight. Mom wouldn't release her nurse at the end of the shift until she promised a better bed.
the waiting room crew greatly appreciates your support and prayer.
please continue to remind God of his servant in need.

Previously from Aaron:
We just said our farewells and Mom says "I'll be back". Her last words were: "Hold Dad up". He doesn't know this yet but we'll certainly work on it. Mom's concern even last night was for other people. It's really hard to remember the whole point of "being strong" today. All the kiddos (Brett, Kerrie, Jeremy, Suzie, Aaron, Jody are here) are pretty torn up depending on the moment. We feel very assured that the team working with Mom is amazing and committed.
We are holed up in a surgery waiting room and spending some time together sharing stories.
Aaron
